Fraud & Asset Recovery

Through our managing partner, Gábor Damjanovic, our firm is a member of ICC FraudNet – the international network of independent law firms specialising in fraud, asset tracing and asset recovery, established under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce.

As a law firm with high profile corporate and disputes practices, we provide asset-recovery representation to victims of fraud, including the pursuit of civil claims and the recovery of assets within criminal proceedings.

We represent companies, financial institutions and private clients affected by fraudulent activity, acting swiftly to trace, secure and recover assets in Hungary and internationally through the ICC FraudNet network and otherwise. Where a matter calls for advice on criminal law, criminal defence or other specialist expertise, we collaborate closely with trusted, well established Hungarian criminal-law practitioners, ensuring coordinated civil and criminal representation.

Our lawyers regularly publish on fraud and asset recovery topics, including in the ICC FraudNet Global Annual Report:

Banks’ Liability for Assets Lost in Phishing Schemes (ICC FraudNet Global Annual Report, 2025)

Fake President Fraud Cases: How Can the Wronged Party Intervene in Insolvency Proceedings? (ICC FraudNet Global Annual Report, 2024)

Examples from our
track record

We represented a subsidiary of an international industrial parts procurement group that had fallen victim to a high-value CEO fraud scheme, pursuing recovery of the misappropriated funds by engaging directly with the account-holding bank and filing a criminal complaint.

We successfully acted for a foreign construction company defrauded in a high-value spoofed e-mail payment diversion scheme, recovering the diverted funds through seizure in criminal proceedings.

We successfully represented a foreign subsidiary of a cross-border automotive components group targeted in a CEO-fraud scheme, recovering in full the losses of more than half a million euros through the seizure of the diverted funds in the criminal proceedings.

We represented a foreign company operating in the hospitality sector defrauded in a high-value scheme, in which a perpetrator impersonating a company representative misled the account-holding bank into authorising large transfers to front companies registered in Hungary; filed a police report and acted for the client throughout the criminal proceedings to recover the funds.
